Sydney Opera House
Striking and unique, the Sydney Opera House has been wowing visitors to Sydney since 1973. You don’t even need to step inside the famous sail-shaped building to enjoy this World-Heritage listed piece of architecture – but it is well worth it. Tours and performances are available daily.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Spanning the famous body of water, the Harbour Bridge is impressive from every angle. To really appreciate it though, try the Harbour BridgeClimb to reach the very top and enjoy the amazing views of the entire city.
Bondi Beach
Are you a fan of white sand, blue waters and great surf? You can find all of the best of Australian beaches at Bondi Beach. You won’t believe you’re still in the city as you relax on the sand, explore the rockpools or enjoy a splash in the waves. A day at Bondi is a favourite activity for all visitors to Sydney.
Taronga Zoo
Tigers in the heart of Sydney? Taronga Zoo is a family favourite, with a wide array of both Australian and exotic animals, plus informational shows, a high-ropes course, and incredible views over the harbour.
How to Get Here
Sydney is located in southern New South Wales on the East Coast of Australia. The main airport is relatively close to the city centre, just 15 minutes south by car. You can also take the train from Sydney Airport into the city.
Interstate bus trips are available and depart from the Bus Depot at Central Station. For those on a driving holiday, Sydney is 10 hours north of Melbourne, 11 hours south of Brisbane, and 3 hours north of Canberra.
When To Go
Sydney has a moderate, warm climate and most times of the year are nice in the harbour city. The best weather can be enjoyed between October and April. June and July are the wettest and coldest months.
To avoid the high season crowds, you can travel during the shoulder season in October, November, March and April. To experience the spectacular fireworks display over the harbour on New Year’s Eve, make sure you’re there for the 31st of December.
